Latest Update on Intercytex!

Hi everyone,

Intercytex, a British biotech company that specializes in tissue engineering, has completed phase 1 of their human hair multiplication trials. Although the goal of this trial was to prove the safety of the procedure, 5 out of the 7 subjects who were enrolled experienced increased hair counts. Those who responded to the treatment averaged about 65 new hairs from 100 injections, or a 65% success ratio per injection. Each injection was administered using a very tiny needle, took about 5 seconds, and was relatively pain free.

Intercytex has received major funding and hopes to release its version of hair multiplication (ICX-TRC) in about 2010 or 2011. Aside from private investments and being traded on the London Stock Exchange, Intercytex has recieved a British government grant in the amount of $3,650,000 (U.S. dollars) to aid them in developing an automated process for culturing large numbers of cells.

Intercytex is currently involved in Phase II of its hair multiplication trials. More information should be available about the procedure in the second half of 2007. You can check out their website here.
